                 Customized Lemmings Game Manual
                 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Purpose:
~~~~~~~~

   Why new Lemmings game? This is because it is obvious Psygnosis
did not want to the people to create the Lemmings levels and
current Lemmings games do not suit those basic logic requirements:

 - Simple load/save access to level files - level packs
 - Easy way to play custom levels and choose them
 - Compact and simple distribution of levels via web
 - Logic build of Lemmings game file structure

So what to do? The Customized Lemmings game is the solution.
First what files this archive contains:

 - CUSTLEMM.EXE = The Customized Lemmings game
 - LEVELPAK.DAT = Generic blank level pack
 - CSTM.DAT     = Game main data file

These three files together with Your Lemmings games will let
You simply edit, play and before all distribute You custom levels.

Instalation:
~~~~~~~~~~~~
   Because the Lemmings Original games are subject of Psygnosis
copyrights, You must proove You own the retail game and provide
some files present only in retail games. Create somewhere on
Your disk a directory called say "CUSTLEMS" and copy in it all
Customized Lemmings files plus following files from original games.
Some are taken from Original Lemmings, some of them are from
Oh-No More Lemmnigs. If You do not have one of these games, simply
skip files taken from it, except files labeled "Common files",
which are neccessary and present in both games.
Here's the list:
   Original Lemmings files:
      GROUND0O.DAT
      GROUND1O.DAT
      GROUND2O.DAT
      GROUND3O.DAT
      GROUND4O.DAT
      VGAGR0.DAT
      VGAGR1.DAT
      VGAGR2.DAT
      VGAGR3.DAT
      VGAGR4.DAT
   Oh-No! More Lemmings files:
      GROUND0O.DAT - Rename this file to GROUND5O.DAT and then copy
      GROUND1O.DAT - Rename this file to GROUND6O.DAT and then copy
      GROUND2O.DAT - Rename this file to GROUND7O.DAT and then copy
      GROUND3O.DAT - Rename this file to GROUND8O.DAT and then copy
      VGAGR0.DAT - Rename this file to VGAGR5.DAT and then copy
      VGAGR1.DAT - Rename this file to VGAGR6.DAT and then copy
      VGAGR2.DAT - Rename this file to VGAGR7.DAT and then copy
      VGAGR3.DAT - Rename this file to VGAGR8.DAT and then copy
   Common files:
      ADLIB.DAT
      TANDYSND.DAT
Done? Ok, now You are prepared for internet level storm.
Creating custom levels:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

   First of all backup the blank generic LEVELPAK.DAT file. Then
You may proceed. It is very simple. Run LemEdit, create Your level
and save it to level pack file "LEVELPAK.DAT". Do not use Insert
saving methods, use always Replace. The higher entry number You
will replace, the "tougher" it will be presented in the game.

Playing custom levels:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
   Let's suppose You have downloaded a level pack from internet
and You want to play it. Here are the instructions:
 + First of all verify the pack contains 10 levels ( use LemEdit ).
   If not, the game may crash, so use Your blank "LEVELPAK.DAT"
   file and via LemEdit transfer all levels from downloaded pack
   into the "LEVELPAK.DAT" file. If the pack already contained
   10 levels, just rename the file to "LEVELPAK.DAT".
 + Run "CUSTLEMM.EXE" and choose the "Step". "Step 1" means You
   will play the first level in pack with ordinal number 0
   ( this is displayed in LemEdit ). "Step 2" will let You play
   third level ( ordinal number 2 ) and so on. To access levels
   with odd ordinal numbers, either win the level before, or
   enter the cheat-code "SKIPLEVELS" and press "5" on NumPad during
   the game
   You see, it is pretty simply now.
Distribution of custom levels:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

   Here are the instructions:

   - Whenever possible save Your levels to blank "LEVELPAK.DAT"
     file via Replace saving method.

   - Never distribute pack with less than 10 levels. If You do
     not want distibute full level pack, let some entries
     unused, i.e. filled with "Unused generic blank level" levels.

   - Your levels are always welcome on Lemmings Levels page
     managed directly by Lemedit creators on this web address:
